Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar is out of Sunday's contest with an upper-body injury as his team meets up with the Vegas Golden Knights. Makar has recorded one goal and 11 assists in 12 Colorado matches. The Avalanche relies upon Makar heavily as he averages 24:01 of ice time a game. Fantasy Managers who roster Makar hope he isn't out too long since he produces tons of points for a defenseman.--Andrew Lennox - RotoBaller

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar tallied three points during their overtime victory over the Dallas Stars on Sunday evening. Makar would tally his first point with a primary assist on Martin Necas' power-play goal in the opening frame. In the second, Makar would dish out his second helper, this time the secondary assist on Valeri Nichushkin's strike. In overtime, Makar would power Colorado to the victory as he found the back of the net on a wrist shot. This outing snapped his brief three-game skid. Before this skid, Makar tallied 17 points (nine goals) over his last nine games. Through 68 total games this season, the 26-year-old has found the back of the net 25 times and added 53 helpers. Makar has tallied 31 of his points on the power play. He remains a must-start player in all leagues and a strong lineup anchor in DFS.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

In the second, he would add two more primary assists, with one of them coming on the power-play. In the third period, Makar would find the back of the net for a second time and add an additional secondary assist during 5-on-5 play. This outing extended his point streak to five games. Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (illness) is expected to be a game-time decision for Team Canada's game on Monday afternoon against Team Finland. The star defenseman was unable to suit up on Saturday evening to face Team USA. Claire Hanna of TSN noted that Makar said he will "do everything to play" and was able to participate in Sunday's optional skate. While Makar was sidelined on Saturday, Dallas' Thomas Harley drew into the starting lineup. During their first game of the tournament against Team Sweden, Makar logged over 28 minutes of ice time and saw time on the top unit during even-strength play and on the power-play. If Makar were to miss his second-straight game, Harley would return to the starting lineup. However, Winnipeg's Josh Morrissey would likely take Makar's spot on the power-play and carry more value in DFS.--Andy Smith - RotoBaller

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Team Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off clash against Team USA on Saturday night. "I'm not going to confirm [Makar is in]," Canada head coach Jon Cooper said Saturday morning. "He'll be a game-time decision. But trust me, this won't be a decision where we ever put him in harm's way. So if he's in the lineup, he's good to go." Makar logged 28:06 of ice time but finished scoreless as Canada opened its tournament with a 4-3 overtime victory against Sweden. He will be a big miss for the team if he can't play on Saturday, with Thomas Harley of the Dallas Stars set to enter the lineup.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
