Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (illness) is expected to be a game-time decision for Team Canada's game on Monday afternoon against Team Finland. The star defenseman was unable to suit up on Saturday evening to face Team USA. Claire Hanna of TSN noted that Makar said he will "do everything to play" and was able to participate in Sunday's optional skate. While Makar was sidelined on Saturday, Dallas' Thomas Harley drew into the starting lineup. During their first game of the tournament against Team Sweden, Makar logged over 28 minutes of ice time and saw time on the top unit during even-strength play and on the power-play. If Makar were to miss his second-straight game, Harley would return to the starting lineup. However, Winnipeg's Josh Morrissey would likely take Makar's spot on the power-play and carry more value in DFS.

Colorado Avalanche defenseman Cale Makar (illness) is considered a game-time decision for Team Canada's 4 Nations Face-Off clash against Team USA on Saturday night. "I'm not going to confirm [Makar is in]," Canada head coach Jon Cooper said Saturday morning. "He'll be a game-time decision. But trust me, this won't be a decision where we ever put him in harm's way. So if he's in the lineup, he's good to go." Makar logged 28:06 of ice time but finished scoreless as Canada opened its tournament with a 4-3 overtime victory against Sweden. He will be a big miss for the team if he can't play on Saturday, with Thomas Harley of the Dallas Stars set to enter the lineup.
