Maki Pitolo Drops Bout Against Julian Marquez
4 years agoMaki Pitolo (13-8) looked to have the upper hand on Julian Marquez in their UFC 258 main-card opener on Saturday. Marquez had been out of action for nearly three years, and Pitolo was taking full advantage of that. Through the 14:43 minutes of action, Pitolo landed 32 significant strikes (70 total strikes) and five of his 11 takedown tries. It's very likely that Pitolo would have walked away with a decision victory if he could've lasted just seventeen more seconds. Getting caught in the submission, Pitolo has now lost his last three fights in a row and now owns a 1-4 record inside the UFC. This may be the last time we see Pitolo as part of the UFC organization for quite some time.
