Mets Resume Talks For Kris Bryant
4 years agoThe New York Mets have resumed talks with the Chicago Cubs about trading for third baseman Kris Bryant, according to league sources. However, it's unknown how likely a trade is, as it was recently reported that the Cubs would likely hold onto Bryant until the July 31 trade deadline unless they were blown away by an offer. Chicago has expressed interest in J.D. Davis, but the Mets like the years of team control left, especially after trading young infielders Amed Rosario and Andres Gimenez to Cleveland. New York has also been pursuing pitching and is trying to find takers for the contracts of relievers Jeurys Familia and Dellin Betances. The Cubs are also interested in top catching prospect Francisco Alvarez, but it's unclear if the Mets would be willing to give him up. Bryant has disappointed while battling injuries the last couple of seasons, but he could bounce back with better health and in a better lineup such as New York's.
