4 years agoThe New York Mets' offer to free-agent starting pitcher Trevor Bauer is for three years and is believed to be close to $100 million. There is also likely an opt-out clause in the deal after the first season. It was reported earlier on Thursday that Bauer and the Mets had agreed on a contract, but those reports were premature. The 2020 National League Cy Young winner is down to the Mets and Los Angeles Dodgers, with a conclusion to the sweepstakes expected within the next 24 hours or so. New York could be the favorite at this point and would have a nasty one-two punch at the top of the rotation with Bauer and Jacob deGrom, but the Dodgers are Bauer's hometown team and are coming off a World Series championship. Wherever Bauer is pitching, he'll be a top-five fantasy ace worth taking as early as Round 2.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
