Thatcher Demko Stops 23, Wins Third Straight
4 years agoVancouver Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko stopped 23 of the 24 shots from Winnipeg on Saturday night, earning him his third consecutive win and a .970 save percentage over those games. Those 24 shots were the lightest workload of the season for Demko so far, but paired with giving up only a single goal in each of his last three starts, it is clear Demko is making a push to take the lead in Vancouver's netminder tandem. The coaching staff seems to be recognizing that effort as Demko has started three of Vancouver's last four games despite evenly splitting starts with Braden Holtby up until that point. Rostered in only 51 percent of Yahoo leagues, Demko is worth picking up while he is on this hot streak with the potential to take over the bulk of the starts in Vancouver going forward.
