Reds Considering Amed Rosario
4 years agoThe Cincinnati Reds have been discussing whether a trade with Cleveland for shortstop Amed Rosario might make sense. Rosario was traded to Cleveland by the New York Mets in the blockbuster trade that involved shortstop Francisco Lindor. The 25-year-old was one of the main pieces in the Lindor trade, but the Indians have flexibility because they also landed young shortstop Andres Gimenez in the same deal. The Tribe also just re-signed second baseman Cesar Hernandez, so one of Rosario or Gimenez could now be expendable. Cincinnati is running out of options for the position, and Didi Gregorius might be too expensive for their taste. Rosario is still only 25 years old and will make just $2.4 million in 2021, so he'd be a cheap and effective option at the 6 for the Reds. Rosario, who hit .252/.272/.371 with four homers and 15 RBI in 46 games in 2020, would be slightly more attractive in Cincinnati, but he'd mostly be middle-infield depth in NL-only leagues.
