Angels Not In On Trevor Bauer
4 years agoThe Los Angeles Angels have been searching for an ace for their starting rotation for years, with virtually no success. They continue to search for a front-line starter, but free-agent right-hander Trevor Bauer, who won the National League Cy Young in 2020, is unlikely to land with the Halos. The 29-year-old had a 1.73 ERA and a 12.3 K/9 and is a Southern California native, but he's not a great fit with the Angels, even if they were to offer him the record-setting annual value of over $36 million, according to people with knowledge of the team's thinking. Bauer worked with current pitching coach Mickey Callaway in Cleveland from 2013-17, and the did not get along. Their relationship is believed to be eroded beyond repair, so it looks as though the Angels won't be a landing spot for the most coveted arm on the free-agent market this offseason.
