Padres Re-Sign Jurickson Profar
4 years agoThe San Diego Padres and infielder/outfielder Jurickson Profar agreed to a three-year, $21 million deal on Friday, according to a source familiar with the deal. Profar will return to the Padres after playing five defensive positions for San Diego last year while seeing most of his time in left field and at second base. He hit a career-high .278 with seven home runs and 25 RBI in 56 games during the shortened 2020 season. The former top prospect with the Rangers has been more productive with the bat with more playing time. The 27-year-old had a rough start last season but rebounded with an .879 OPS and .331 average in the final 43 games. Profar should continue to be a useful utility man for the Friars, but with both Jake Cronenworth and Ha-Seong Kim on the roster, he's unlikely to be an everyday player, limiting his fantasy appeal to deeper mixed leagues and NL-only affairs.
