Phillies Have Chance To Re-Sign J.T. Realmuto And Didi Gregorius
4 years agoThere was pessimism at the start of the offseason that the Philadelphia Phillies could re-sign both catcher J.T. Realmuto and shortstop Didi Gregorius, but there is now a real chance that could happen. It's mid-January and the free-agent markets for both players haven't developed the way they'd hoped back in November. The Mets signed James McCann instead of Realmuto, and Gregorius remains in a market that includes Marcus Semien and Andrelton Simmons, with an even more crowded shortstop market next year. Philadelphia remains engaged with both Realmuto and Gregorius, but it might be a while before they find homes. Realmuto will be the top fantasy backstop no matter where he's playing. Gregorius had a nice slash line of .284/.339/.488 with 10 home runs and 40 RBI in 2021, so it's surprising that he hasn't drawn more interest.
