Alex Smith Likely To Start In Week 17
Washington Football Team quarterback Alex Smith (calf) is expected to start against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 17. Smith is listed as questionable with a calf injury and has not played since Week 14 but he was reportedly close to playing last week. The veteran quarterback's return to action is a boost for a Washington team that is in a must-win situation if they want to make the playoffs, although his return to the field is more significant in real-life than it is in fantasy. That being said, he can still be treated as a low-end QB2/high-end QB3 for the regular-season finale. His presence also represents an uptick for his pass-catchers, namely Logan Thomas, J.D. McKissic, and Terry McLaurin (if he plays through a questionable tag). Taylor Heinicke will return to a reserve role after playing during the second half and throwing a touchdown in Week 16.
