4 years agoFree-agent catcher J.T. Realmuto could be the best position player available in free agency as a Gold Glove-winning backstop with power, on-base skills and speed. MLB.com predicts Realmuto's most likely landing spot being the New York Mets, followed by him returning to the Phillies. The Angels, Yankees and Nationals could also be heavily in the mix. The Mets have a new owner in Steve Cohen and are expected to be very aggressive with the top names on the market. They have plenty of new money to spend and have a huge hole at the catching position. Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper has been lobbying for the team to re-sign Realmuto. Philly is coming off another disappointing season and has the second-longest postseason drought behind only the Mariners.
