Come hell or high water, you better believe Phil Mickelson is ready to hit bombs at Augusta National. Now whether those bombs translate into success rather than an epic implosion will be the story of his Masters, but Mickelson does have the pedigree to find success for the week. The American has made eight of his last 10 cuts at the venue, which includes three top-three results, and there may just be a little magic left in Lefty's arsenal when you consider he will be under five-percent owned. Mickelson is nothing more than a GPP long-shot, but all you can do is hope for the best.--Spencer Aguiar - RotoBaller

As Phil Mickelson loves to remind us, he is the reigning PGA Champion, and although he's been as inconsistent as anyone, we know the upside is always there. Mickelson comes to the Farmers Insurance Open after opening 2022 with two horrible performances at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and American Express. The 51-year-old is no stranger to playing at Torrey Pines, having 12 appearances between the Farmers and US Open between 2008 to 2021, but we haven't seen much upside from his as of late, with his best result coming over a decade ago when he finished runner-up. Playing 'Lefty' in DFS or betting markets could be a cautionary tale.--Owen Vrabel - RotoBaller

Phil Mickelson returns to action this week at The American Express. The 51-year-old golfer is coming off a 30th-place finish at Kapalua. Mickelson struggled on his approach in Maui, losing 2.9 strokes two weeks ago. Mickelson had a career-defining moment last spring when he won The PGA Championship at the Ocean course. Mickelson became the oldest golfer to ever win a major. At La Quinta, Mickelson has been a mixed bag. In his last four starts, he has three missed cuts and a second-place finish. Mickelson is not a recommended cash play this week but may be worth owning in GPPs for his boom-or-bust potential.--Rob Giltner - RotoBaller

Phil Mickelson gained entry into the opening "winners only" tournament by winning the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island. The last time Mickelson played at Kapalua was in 2001 when he finished 28th out of 33 golfers. The lefty American golfer had one top-20 finish after his major triumph. He takes risks, he misses a lot of shots, and makes some too. Courses like The Masters, where he finished 21st last year suit Mickelson better than say Kapalua. It is not a surprise why the Californian rarely plays this early January tournament. There are better options to recommend this weekend. --Chris Wassel - RotoBaller
