Twins Negotiating With Nelson Cruz
4 years agoThe Minnesota Twins entered contract negotiations with designated hitter Nelson Cruz this week. Cruz is a free agent after hitting 57 home runs and slashing .308/.394/.626 over the last two seasons in Minnesota, but they are entertaining bringing him back for another season. The power hitter is now 40 years old, but he remains one of the top sluggers in baseball and hasn't shown many signs of slowing down. Cruz is at the top of the list in home runs since the beginning of the 2014 season with 260. His market could expand to the National League if the universal DH is implemented for the 2021 season, but that decision may not come until later in the offseason. Cruz is likely to sign a one- or two-year deal on the open market and he should still have plenty of fantasy appeal next year for his home run pop.
