LeSean McCoy 2020 Outlook: Clinging to Fantasy Relevance in Tampa
4 years agoVeteran RB LeSean McCoy joins a loaded Tampa Bay offense in 2020, although his days as the primary runner are over. It initially appeared he would serve as a veteran backup to Ronald Jones and Ke'Shawn Vaughn. Now that the Bucs have signed Leonard Fournette, McCoy was fortunate to stick on the roster. Bruce Arians stated that Shady will still have an "integral role" in the offense, although his word hasn't meant much these past months.
McCoy is now 32, which is well past prime age for a running back, and shouldn't see many touches at all if Fournette and Jones are both in the backfield. Even on the most prolific offense in the league last year, McCoy didn't touch the ball often for the Chiefs, averaging under eight carries per game. He may still have a little juice left but there is no way to justify rostering him in fantasy unless a long-term injury occurs to the two backs ahead of him.
