Kris Bryant A Last-Minute Scratch From Saturday’s Lineup

Chicago Cubs third baseman Kris Bryant was removed from Saturday’s lineup against the Pirates at the eleventh hour due to an undisclosed reason. Bryant has scuffled out of the gates in 2020, going 3-for-25 with one double and 10 strikeouts through his first six games. Despite that, his exit velocity has been off the charts, sitting at 93.8 MPH, which would set both a new career high and place him inside the top five percent of the league. David Bote will man third Saturday, with Ian Happ shifting to the leadoff spot. The next chance that Bryant will have to get out of his slump comes Sunday when Pittsburgh is projected to send left-hander Steven Brault to the hill, whom Bryant has hammered to the tune of 8-for-16 with a 1.600 OPS in his career.
