Caleb Smith Extremely Wild In Saturday's Start
4 years agoMiami Marlins starting pitcher Caleb Smith couldn't throw too many strikes on Saturday. He lasted just three innings, somehow allowing only one run despite allowing a hit and six walks. Smith threw 70 pitches to get his nine outs, only 36 of those pitches were strikes. He showed his swing-and-miss stuff, but his extreme fly ball tendencies won't match well with too many runners on base from free passes. He'll need to throw more strikes to be as effective as he was at the beginning of last season.
