Kyle Schwarber Profiles Better As DH
4 years agoChicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Schwarber has never been much to look at defensively, which is why he figures to be the team's primary designated hitter with the universal DH in play in 2020. Steven Souza Jr. missed all of last year with a left knee injury, but if he's healthy, left field should be his job to lose. Schwarber and Ian Happ could end up splitting time at DH and in left field. The left-handed hitting slugger had career highs in batting average (.250), slugging percentage (.531), OPS (.871), home runs (38), RBI (92), runs (82) and hits (132) in 2019, easily making him a top-40 fantasy outfielder heading into the 2020 season. If he secures most of his at-bats in the DH role, that should only help.
