James Washington 2020 Outlook: Potential Second Option?
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers wide receiver James Washington is in the mix for the No. 2 job this upcoming season. The once top-rated prospect has lost a lot of momentum due to the emergence of trendy sleeper Diontae Johnson and the drafting of Canadian Chase Claypool. However, there is reason to be optimistic in 2020. Last season, the 24-year-old averaged the fifth-most air yards per target in the league. Although this led to disappointing production, second and third-string quarterbacks rarely have the accuracy and ability to support big-play threats like Washington. If Ben Roethlisberger comes back healthy this season, Washington might have the quarterback play he needs for a potential third-year breakout. He is well worth the upside to add to your bench as a WR4 or WR5 late in drafts.
