Jaylen Samuels 2020 Outlook: Progression Possible?
5 years agoPittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Samuels will enter his third year in the league and look to make a more significant impact for his team. After James Conner missed some time in 2019 with various injuries, Samuels got some extra work on an intermittent basis, mostly serving alongside Benny Snell Jr. and doing the bulk of his share catching passes out of the backfield. Overall, his production during the year was sporadic--at best--and his most impactful outing occurred against the Colts in early November when he would catch all 13 of his targets for 73 yards. Heading into 2020, Samuels' outlook isn't promising as Conner, Snell, and the newly drafted Anthony McFarland Jr. will all be looking for touches. He may gain a more prominent role if any of those guys are unable to stay healthy, but he can't be relied on for consistent fantasy output, especially if the foursome are sharing duties from a week-to-week basis throughout the year.
