Teddy Bridgewater 2020 Outlook: Back In The Saddle
5 years agoCarolina Panthers quarterback Teddy Bridgewater will have some big shoes to fill in his first season as the likely starter for the club. After nine seasons with Carolina, Cam Newton is no longer with the team, opening the door for Bridgewater, who signed a three-year deal with the Panthers in March, to shed the backup role that he carried for several years. As a result of a season-ending knee injury in 2016, the 27-year-old lost his spot as the primary signal-caller for the Vikings before ending up in New Orleans in 2018, spending two seasons with the Saints. When Drew Brees sustained a thumb injury in Week 2, Bridgewater started five games last season and reminded everyone of how genuinely impactful he could be. He finished 2019 with nine touchdowns and only two picks for 1,384 yards and did so while maintaining a 67.9 completion percentage, the highest mark of his career. Bridgewater may not be as mobile as he was during his younger days, but with guys like Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, Robby Anderson, and Curtis Samuel on the offensive side of the ball, he may have more fantasy value than ever.
