Panthers Give Teddy Bridgewater A Three-Year Deal
5 years agoThe Carolina Panthers agreed to a three-year, $63 million deal with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater on Tuesday, according to a source. It was reported earlier in the day that the two sides had a basic agreement, and now we have the numbers. The Panthers gave Cam Newton permission to seek a trade before agreeing with Bridgewater to be their starter moving forward. Bridgewater has some familiarity with Carolina's offensive coordinator from their time in New Orleans. He went 5-0 in place of an injured Drew Brees last season, but he was mostly a game manager. The 27-year-old has played in just 15 games the last three seasons and will be more of a QB2 with upside in an offense that runs through running back Christian McCaffrey.
