Jean Segura Comes To Camp Lighter
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies infielder Jean Segura came to camp 14 pounds lighter this year. He achieved that in the offseason by eating better, sleeping more and cutting out whiskey from his diet. Segura is willing to play anywhere the team wants him to play. The Phils said they plan on using him at either third or second base in 2020 now that Didi Gregorius is locked in at the 6. Perhaps Segura dropped some weight in order to run more this season, as his 10 steals last year were the fewest since 2012 when he played only 45 games. The two-time All-Star hit .280/.323/.420 with 12 home runs and 60 RBI in 144 games. Adding third base eligibility would be nice, but Segura will mostly likely see most of his playing time at the keystone. If he can rebound in the steals department, he could be a nice late-round middle infield value pick.
