Twins Set To Acquire Kenta Maeda In Blockbuster Trade
5 years agoThe Minnesota Twins will acquire starting pitcher Kenta Maeda from the Los Angeles Dodgers in a blockbuster three-team deal that also involves outfielder Mookie Betts and starting pitcher David Price going from the Red Sox to the Dodgers, according to sources. With Price joining the Dodgers rotation, Maeda is being shipped out. The Japanese right-hander went 10-8 with a 4.04 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 169 strikeouts in 153 2/3 innings over 26 starts and 11 relief outings for the Dodgers in 2019. He'll give Minnesota a proven rotation arm with experience as a swingman behind Jose Berrios and Jake Odorizzi. Given Minnesota's pitcher-friendly environment, Maeda could thrive as an under-the-radar fantasy target in the middle rounds.
