Mets Not Discussing Trades For Dominic Smith
5 years agoThe New York Mets currently don't have any active trade talks involving first baseman/outfielder Dominic Smith, according to sources. The assumption is that Smith would be a likely trade candidate now that the Mets signed first baseman Matt Adams on Friday. They also have All-Star Peter Alonso entrenched as the everyday starter at the position. Smith is still just 24 years old, which would make him an ideal candidate for a trade, especially since he hit .282/.355/.525 with 11 home runs and 25 RBI in 177 at-bats in his part-time role in 2019. He provides the team with flexibility because of his ability to play the outfield, but Smith's redraft value will be non-existent unless he's traded to a team that can give him regular at-bats.
