5 years agoThe Pittsburgh Pirates are considering outfielders Kevin Pillar, Billy Hamilton and Cameron Maybin as center field candidates now that they've traded Starling Marte to the Diamondbacks. Of the three, Pillar would likely be the most expensive free agent, but general manager Ben Cherington is familiar with Pillar from their time in Toronto. Pillar, 31, is more known for his glove, but he managed 21 home runs, 88 RBI and 14 steals in 611 at-bats between the Blue Jays and Giants in 2019. Hamilton flies on the base paths, but he has trouble getting on base and has basically become a non-factor with the bat. Maybin hit .285/.364/.494 with 11 homers, 32 RBI and nine steals in 82 games for the Yankees last year, but he might project more as a corner outfielder at this stage of his career.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBaller
