Red Sox Serious About Moving Mookie Betts
5 years agoThere is a sense that the Boston Red Sox are more serious than ever about trading outfielder Mookie Betts, and rival teams are starting to think that it might actually happen. The Dodgers and Padres are the two teams most publicly linked to Betts, although there's no sense that one team is the favorite. Boston may have orders to deal Betts and get under the luxury tax threshold with the 27-year-old set to become a free agent after the 2020 season. The Padres might be the closest to acquiring the 2018 American League MVP, but they want Boston to pick up more of the $61 million left on outfielder Wil Myers' contract. A move to SD and Petco Park would make Betts slightly less attractive in fantasy, but he's still a superstar worth consideration in the top five picks.
