Yadier Molina Wants To Play Beyond 2020
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina said he hopes to play beyond the 2020 season, perhaps for two more years. However, he only wants to continue playing for the Cardinals, so if they don't want him back after the 2020 season, he will retire. The 37-year-old Molina played in just 113 games (his fewest since 2014) and hit .270 with 10 home runs, 57 RBI and six stolen bases. The power production saw a substantial dip after he had clubbed a combined 38 long balls the previous two seasons. Molina remains a solid defensive backstop, but you won't be able to count on him with the stick moving forward in single-catcher leagues. The future Hall of Famer is a nine-time All-Star and nine-time Gold Glover, but age and health are becoming question marks as he nears the end of his career.
