Rays Avoid Arbitration With Tyler Glasnow
5 years agoThe Tampa Bay Rays and starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.05 million deal, according to a source. The 26-year-old right-hander only made 12 starts (60 2/3 innings) in 2019 because of injury, but he was electric when he was on the mound, going 6-1 with a 1.78 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 76 strikeouts. A former top prospect of the Pirates, Glasnow's arrow is pointing straight up as he heads into his second full season with Tampa. Pitching in the American League East is as tough as it gets, but Glasnow has the pedigree to overcome it as long as he stays healthy.
