Julio Teheran 2020 Outlook: Brings Consistency to Angels, But Not Excellence
5 years agoJulio Teheran has been a quietly reliable end-of-your-rotation fantasy starter for the better part of his career. He's started 30 or more games every year since 2013, which is an accomplishment in itself. His career 3.67 ERA likely a bit lower than what we should expect in 2020 given the fact that his fastball averaged a career-low 89.9MPH in 2019. He only lasted 5.1 innings on average last year, and ultimately he's not going to bring much to the table in the way of wins or strikeouts. He should still get by on a reliable sinker, but as he makes the jump to the American League for the first time in his career regression seems all but inevitable. The 28-year-old likely won't be able to keep his ERA under 4.00, and should be picked in the last five rounds of any draft, if he's picked at all.
