Tom Brady's Demise Is Real
5 years agoNew England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady heads into the 2020 playoffs as one of the weaker signal-callers of the remaining 12 teams. But the numbers show that the six-time Super Bowl champion, four-time Super Bowl MVP and three-time NFL MVP is declining rapidly at 42 years old. He has the second lowest passer rating (88.0) among playoff QBs. Since Week 9, Brady's completion percentage (56.9), yards per attempt (5.9) and passer rating (80.8) all rank 28th or worse. Since Week 4, his completion percentage (59.4), yards per attempt (6.2) and passer rating (82.0) all rank among the bottom six in the league. Brady's supporting cast hasn't been great, though, and their 34 drops ranked second most in the NFL, but he hasn't performed up to his standards. His 37.4 percent completion rate while being blitzed was the third lowest mark in the league, and he had the lowest passer rating (67.4) among all QBs on throws to wide targets. "He's not the same player," a former NFL defensive coordinator who routinely faced Brady told me. "He's not as accurate and he's missing more throws than ever." We knew this day would come for the GOAT, but it looks like that day has come. Going into the playoffs this year, Brady is the lowest priced starting fantasy QB on DraftKings for a reason. It won't help his cause that rain/snow is expected on Saturday night against the Titans.
