Torn Meniscus Sidelines Joonas Korpisalo for Columbus
5 years agoColumbus Blue Jackets goaltender Joonas Korpisalo has been diagnosed with a torn meniscus in his right knee and underwent surgery to repair it on Monday. He is expected to miss four to six weeks, leaving Elvis Merzlikins as the de facto starter until his return. Columbus is likely in line for a drop-off in net going from Korpisalo and his .913 save percentage this season to Merzlikins and his .889 save percentage, but they have to hope that Merzlikins will improve with more consistent usage. Merzlikins has yet to record a win in his 10 appearances but will get plenty of opportunities in the next month. Korpisalo is worth stashing until he is healthy, and Merzlikins can be cautiously added for fantasy teams that are in need of goalie help.
