Nick Foles Taking Over For Gardner Minshew
5 years agoJacksonville Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone announced on Tuesday that quarterback Nick Foles (collarbone), who has been activated from Injured Reserve, will regain his starting job from rookie Gardner Minshew coming out of their Week 10 bye to face the Colts on Nov. 17. Minshew has held his own in eight games with Foles sidelined, but he fell flat in Week 9 in London against the Texans. The Jags also signed Foles to a four-year, $88 million deal with a franchise-record $50.125 million in guarantees, so they have a financial incentive to start him as well. Minshew took the league by storm and led the team to a 4-4 record, but he had four turnovers last week and led the team to just one field goal. He leads the NFL with 11 fumbles and is second with seven lost fumbles. Foles should give the Jaguars a better chance to win, and he's more likely to take deep shots to D.J. Chark and Chris Conley. Treat Foles as a QB2 with upside now that he's back.
