Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Dougie Hamilton picked up an assist in each period of Friday night's win over Detroit, giving him his fifth career three-assist game. Hamilton has been one of the most productive defensemen in the league so far this season, scoring 16 points in 13 games with six of those points coming on the power play. Hamilton has never scored more than 50 points in a season, making this an unprecedented scoring pace for the well-traveled blue-liner. An unsustainable high shooting percentage (16.2 percent) certainly helps, but he does lead all Carolina defensemen in time on ice and is playing on their top power-play unit, which will keep his fantasy value high even when his shooting percentage comes back down to earth.--Russ Ivanac - RotoBaller
