Zack Greinke Struggling To Put Away Lefties
5 years agoHouston Astros starter Zack Greinke will take the mound in what is a must-win situation in Game 3 of the World Series on Friday night against the Nationals. It has not been the smoothest postseason ride for the veteran, but he pitched fairly well in his last outing against the Yankees. Greinke will carry a 6.43 ERA in three playoff starts into Friday, and most of his struggles can be pinpointed on his inability to retire left-handed hitters. Greinke is posting a 13.50 ERA against lefties, allowing opponents to bat .278 against him. This is a far cry from the 2.48 ERA he posted during the regular season against hitters from the left side. The key to Greinke's success on Friday just might be tied to how he fares against the Nationals' Adam Eaton, Juan Soto and Asdrubal Cabrera.
