John Collins 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoAtlanta Hawks power forward/center John Collins is creating a lot of buzz this fantasy preseason as a young and athletic big man that is looking prime to break into the top-20 in the rankings in all formats. He is poised to be a 20-and-10 beast, but after that, what can expect out of the third-year Collins? His defensive numbers took a major hit last season from 1.1 blocks and 0.6 steals to 0.6 blocks and 0.4 steals respectively. This is odd, as usually as players develop and mature, we see these number increase. We did see his makes from three increase from 0.2 to 0.9 makes a night in his second year at a respectable clip of 34.8% and his assists increased from 1.3 a night to 2.0 last season. If Collins can return to his rookie defensive numbers (which most are banking on), continue his 20-and-10 work, make one or more threes a night with his solid percentages, we should easily see a top-30 player in the making. If he cannot up these supporting numbers, you could end up with mid-round value with an early-round pick. Either way, we know Collins is going to have a big season, the question is, how big?
