Caris LeVert 2019 Player Outlook
5 years agoBrooklyn Nets guard Caris Levert was on his way towards a big year in 2018-19 before a freak injury derailed his season. LeVert was diagnosed with a subtalar dislocation of the right foot after leaving a road game against Minnesota early on Nov. 12. He was averaging a team-high 19 points per game before suffering the horrible injury. Amazingly, LeVert was back on the court only three months later, although, for understandable reasons, the Michigan product failed to replicate his early-season form as his season average dropped to 13.7 points per game. However, LeVert slowly got better with each passing week and he even ended up averaging 21 points in five playoff games against Philadelphia. LeVert shot 42.9 percent from the field for the year, including 31.2 percent from downtown. He failed to hit the 40 percent mark following the All-Star break, which explains his lowly overall percentage. LeVert did much better in the playoffs, shooting 48.1 percent. After starting only 25 of 40 games in 2018-19, LeVert looks set to be a regular member of the starting five in 2019-20, so his numbers should get a nice boost. He added 3.9 assists, 3.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game to his tally last season, proving himself as a very versatile player.
