Geno Smith Has Minor Surgery
5 years agoSeattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith underwent minor surgery on his knee on Friday to remove a cyst. Smith was given the start in Thursday's preseason game against the Broncos, but he was removed after the first half. Smith struggled in his half of work, going 3-for-9 for 58 yards and getting sacked twice. Smith is considered the front-runner for the backup job in Seattle, but his competition, Paxton Lynch, looked considerably better in the game than Smith. It wouldn't be surprising if this competition went down to the wire, especially with head coach Pete Carroll's mantra of always competing. He should return to action in a few days, and Carroll already said that he might be ready for the team's next preseason game.
