Zack Wheeler Fires Seven Shutout Innings In Win
5 years agoThe New York Mets won their seventh consecutive game, once again led by brilliant starting pitching. It was Zack Wheeler this time, as the 29-year-old went seven shutout innings en route to his eighth win of the year. Wheeler, who was in constant trade rumors prior to Wednesday's deadline, allowed four hits and no walks while striking out seven. His offense added three insurance runs in the sixth to pick up a 4-0 victory. The Mets are now 53-55, finding themselves four games out of the second wild card spot in the National League.
