Danny Duffy Lucks Into Win
5 years agoKansas City Royals starting pitcher Danny Duffy got the help he needed from his offense on Sunday, landing a gifted win. Duffy allowed four earned runs (five total) in six innings of work, allowing seven hits and two home runs along the way. He struck out five and walked two. Duffy had never allowed five or more runs in an appearance and gotten the win until Sunday. Even this win was predicated on the Royals having a huge fifth inning that featured a handful of defensive errors, miscues, and bad decisions, culminating in opposing pitcher Trevor Bauer getting so upset that he threw the ball over the center-field wall after a play. Duffy draws the first-place Twins next, and it's not good to bet on another gift like this.
