Diamondbacks Activate Alex Avila From Injured List
The Arizona Diamondbacks activated catcher Alex Avila (calf) from the Injured List on Friday. The team also sent catcher Caleb Joseph down to Triple-A. Avila has a .220/.410/.508 slash line with five home runs and 11 RBI in 25 games this year. The player most affected by Avila re-joining the team will be Carson Kelly, who has started 50 of the team's 79 games this year. He has hit nine home runs and has a slash line of .270/.354/.528. If Avila continues to produce like he did before the injury, we could be looking at a 60/40-type of split favoring Kelly. For now, Kelly can be held in 14+ leagues, but Avila is certainly more of a threat to his playing time than Joseph was, so in more shallow leagues, he can be dropped if there's an intriguing catcher on waivers.
