Jesse Chavez Turns In Outstanding Effort In Road Win

Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jesse Chavez allowed one unearned run, five hits and no walks with seven strikeouts over 6 1/3 innings in a victory on Tuesday in Detroit. He threw first-pitch strikes to 16 of the 24 batters he faced, throwing 56 of his 79 pitches for strikes. Chavez has appeared in an 'opener' role a handful of times this season, but this was his first traditional start as a member of the rotation, and he passed with flying colors. If you are in need of starting pitching in AL-only fantasy leagues you should roll the dice on the 35-year-old righty.
