Ian Desmond Nails Pinch-Hit Home Run
6 years agoColorado Rockies outfielder Ian Desmond was initially out of the lineup on Thursday, but when he got the call with the team down by two in the eighth inning, Desmond answered the bell. With a full count and the bases empty, Desmond drilled a 95 MPH fastball out to right-center. It extends Desmond's miniature hitting streak to five games, his longest of the season, and it also means Desmond has scored a run in five straight games as well. Desmond's still dragging his numbers up from his cold April, but he's been on a roll for the second half of May. Desmond's hit .342 with two homers and 10 RBI over the last two weeks, and he should continue to see regular chances while Charlie Blackmon remains on the IL. A notoriously streaky hitter, this is the time for owners to ride the Desmond train.
