DaeSean Hamilton 2019 Player Outlook: Secretly Denver's WR1
6 years agoWhen the Broncos drafted Courtland Sutton and Daesean Hamilton in 2018, everyone fully expected them to take over as the two starting WRs in 2019. While that looks to have come true, it was Sutton who was to be the "Demaryius Thomas" while Hamilton was to be the "Emmanuel Sanders." A funny thing happened in 2018: Sutton got his chance to be the top guy and completely flopped. Meanwhile, Hamilton closed at the year averaging 9.5 targets over his final four games. Admittedly that is a small sample size and the Broncos have changed quarterbacks, but Sutton was not being targeted as often as Hamilton over that span. I'm not suggesting Hamilton is a lock to be the primary option in Denver's passing game, but he has legitimately WR2 upside and is being severely overlooked. The discrepancy in ADP between Sutton and Hamilton is completely unjustified. Hamilton is poised to operate as the primary slot receiver and his competition for targets is minimal. Hamilton is looking at the possibility of a 120 target season. His ADP is certain to climb in the coming months, but I expect him to remain a value up until opening weekend.
