Martin Maldonado Ejected In Blowout

Kansas City Royals catcher Martin Maldonado was one of a host of Royals who couldn't find his way at the dish on Wednesday, but he hit poorly for less innings than any of his teammates. With KC trailing 9-0 in the top of the seventh inning, Maldonado struck out looking on a pitch that was correctly called on the outside corner, and he took umbrage with the fact that he felt his pitchers weren't getting that same call. He was casually ejected after posing a mild argument, and manager Ned Yost was casually ejected moments later for arguing as well. Maldonado was brought in after the team lost Salvador Perez for the season, and while he's handled the pitching staff pretty well, he's been a black hole with the bat. There's no credible threat to his playing time, but he also probably shouldn't be rostered in fantasy leagues until he can figure his way back to a .200 batting average.
