Billy Hamilton Is Learning To Be Patient
6 years agoKansas City Royals outfielder Billy Hamilton is a known quantity in that his biggest limitation is his difficulty in getting to first base, but this old dog may be learning a new trick. Hamilton has walked five times in the last five games, and not surprisingly, this has also led to four stolen bases and three runs scored. He even got slotted into the No. 2 spot in the batting order on Friday and reached base on a pair of walks. Hamilton's walk rate on the season is north of 13%, a huge jump compared to his career number of just 7%, and it could allow for a huge boost in his value. He's stolen 50 or more bases four times without ever cracking 8% for a walk rate. He could seriously be looking at 70+ stolen bases if he can keep walking this often.
