Joey Votto Hits First Career Leadoff Homer

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto went 1-for-4 with a leadoff homer in a 4-1 win over the San Diego Padres on Thursday. That goes down as the first leadoff home run of Votto's storied career. Reds manager David Bell recently moved Votto to the leadoff spot, hoping to get the veteran and the rest of the lineup going. Votto is off to a slow start, hitting just .230 with nine runs, two homers, and four RBI. While he has been known to get off to slow starts in the past, there is a bit of concern that Votto is slowing down in his age-35 season.
