The 27-year-old wouldn't even record an out, as the Phillies pounced, picking up eight runs on four hits, a walk, a hit batter and three errors. By the time the side was retired, the Phillies were up 10. The performance was completely unexpected, as Matz carried a 1.65 ERA and a 1-0 record heading into this game.
