According to manager Aaron Boone, his next step would be to take on-field batting practice. Hicks has been sidelined with a lower back strain, an injury that has prevented him from playing during the regular season. After hitting .248 with 27 home runs and 79 RBI last season, he signed a contract extension, ensuring his future with the Yankees.
