6 years agoAfter New York Yankees infielder Gleyber Torres' heroics put the Yankees ahead Thursday afternoon, the club held on to a one-run lead against the Baltimore Orioles. That was until the top of the ninth when Luke Voit delivered a three-run blast, his only hit of the game. While Voit entered the season in competition with Greg Bird over the starting first base job, a rash of injuries have thrust both into starting roles, with Voit serving primarily as the designated hitter. While he hasn't hit for average, his value lies in his ability to smash home runs like he did on Thursday.--RDelgado
