Adalberto Mondesi Hits Inside-the-Park HR
6 years agoAfter Opening Day, Kansas City Royals shortstop Adalberto Mondesi told reporters that he expected to hit an inside-the-park home run at Kauffman Stadium since he had smacked a pair of triples with such ease. Since Mondesi is one of the fastest runners in the league, everyone nodded along and agreed that it would eventually happen. No one thought it would happen within the week. Mondesi drilled a shot off the center field wall in the eighth inning of Tuesday's loss to the Twins, and when center fielder Byron Buxton fell down on the play, Mondesi's prediction came true. Mondesi is off to a white-hot start, hitting .412 over his first four games. With more matches against the Twins on the horizon, expect the good times to keep rolling for now.
